Maintenance Kit Instructions
The following parts
are included in this maintenance kit:

CAUTION: The
fuser may be hot. Turn off printer, unplug it and allow it to sit
for 20 to 30 minutes
before performing these maintenance procedures.
Fusing Assembly
Removal and Replacement
1. Remove the toner
cartridge, the tray 2 cassette and lift printer off tray 3 assembly
(if installed)
2. Remove the DIMM
cover
a.) Open the toner
cartridge door
b.) Press and hold
the release button
c.) Slide cover
forward and then swing out and away from printer
3. Remove the rear
cover
a.) Open rear output
bin and release the diverter pivot pins from slots
b.) Let rear output
bin drop down completely
c.) Remove the two
now exposed mounting screws
d.) Lift rear output
bin back up to re-engage the diverter pivot pins
e.) Locate and
unlatch the two rear cover locking tabs in the tray 2 cavity
f.) Pull cover
straight down and swing bottom out to lift away from printer
4. Remove the two
screws that secure the white plastic reverse guide to the fuser and
lift the guide off
5. Unplug the three
wire harness connectors
6. Remove grounding
screw on left side of fusing assembly
7. Pull the fuser
out of the printer
8. When installing
replacement fuser, use the guide pins on the printer to ensure
proper fuser
alignment
9. Reassemble in
reverse order
Transfer Roller
Removal and Replacement
1. Remove toner
cartridge
2. Locate the black
bushing on the left side of the transfer roller next to the gear
3. Squeeze the two
locking tabs on the bushing together and lift slightly
4. Slide roller to
the left until roller shaft clears the white bushing on the right
5. Lift transfer
roller out
6. Insert right side
of roller shaft into white bushing and slide roller to the right
7. When tabs on left
side bushing align push roller down until tabs lock
8. Check for proper
installation by ensuring both ends of roller move up and down
Tray 1 Pickup Roller
and Separation Pad Removal and Replacement
1. Remove the DIMM
cover
2. Remove rear cover
3. Remove top cover
a.) Open toner
access door and release linkage arm on right side
b.) Push arm down
into the opening
c.) Remove the two
long screws on the front left and right hand corners
d.) Remove the two
screws on the back side of the top cover
e.) Locate and
release the two locking tabs located near the top cover hinges
f.) Lift top cover
up and off of printer
4. Remove left cover
a.) Locate and
release the locking tabs on top and lower front corner
b.) Lift off the
cover
5. Remove tray 1
a.) Disconnect two
vertical springs at front corners of tray assembly
b.) Separate door
and shelf portions of tray by disconnecting pivot pins
c.) Slide tray 1
door to the left and pull away from printer
d.) Disconnect pivot
arms from tray 1 shelf
e.) Remove shelf by
pulling right side away from printer
6. Remove single
separation pad assembly mounting screw and remove assembly
7. Locate, press and
hold left idler release tab. Slide idler wheel to the left
8. Locate, press and
hold right idler release tab. Slide idler to the right
9. Locate, press and
hold roller release tab. Slide roller slightly to the right
10. Rotate roller
forward and out away from printer
11. Slide new roller
onto shaft and move to the left until tab locks
12. Slide left and
right idler wheels back to their original position
13. Install new
separation pad and holder assembly
14. Reassemble in
reverse order
Tray 2 Pickup Roller
Pad Removal and Replacement
1. Remove tray 2 and
place printer gently on its top with roller to the front
2. Pull left bushing
locking tab away from roller and rotate forward until bushing slides left
3. Pull right
bushing tab away from roller and rotate forward until bushing slides right
4. Slide roller to
the right until left (slotted) shaft is clear of bushing
5. Lift left side up
and slide back to the right until right shaft is clear. Lift out
6. Remove two idler
wheels from old roller and install on new part
7. Install new
roller and rotate while sliding to the left to ensure that slotted portion of
roller shaft engages wi
the roller drive
shaft.
8. Reseat left and
right bushings.
NOTE: If right
bushing will not seat properly the slotted roller shaft is not engaged
properly with the
drive shaft.
Tray 2 Separation
Pad Removal and Replacement
1. Remove paper from
tray and place tray on its top
2. Locate the two
separation pad locking tabs through the two access slots at front of tray
3. With a flat blade
screwdriver, release both tabs
4.Place tray back on
its bottom and lock platen in the down position
5. Locate the two
locking tabs at front of pad assembly
6. Release one tab
and pull up on pad. Repeat process on other side
7. Lift pad assembly
straight up
8. Install spring on
new pad
9. Align pad with
metal tab in tray and push straight down while ensuring that pressure
spring maintains the
correct orientation
10. Push pad down
until all four locking tabs engage.
11. Ensure proper
installation by pushing pad up and down through full swing
12. Replace tray
